HDMI AOC is become so popular today, a lot of people start to use HDMI AOC from 5m to 100m, to instead of traditional long HDMI cable and HDBaseT extenders. The HDMI AOC have its own advantage, such as more soft, more flexible, more slim, without any signal loss for long distance, all of these are traditional copper HDMI Cable can not do.
These advantage drive a lot of people willing to try this new technology, but inside risk not everybody know. Some people found that there is no signal after installation, today we are talking about some reason cause this problem, to help you find the reason, to help you find a better quality HDMI AOC for your project.
1. Wrong direction, this is fiber optical HDMI cable, HDMI signal is sending by lighting, it is a uni-direction product, so you have to put Source to PC/STB/DVD, and Display side connect to TV/Screen/Project etc.
2. Cable broken, since this inside cable is fiber optical, no matter plastic fiber optical or glass fiber optical, there is a bending radium, so please read your cable manual before installation, to avoid any cable broken or wrong bending radium, Smartavlink’s HDMI AOC can take a knot , it is very small bending radium on the marketing to avoid a not potential risk.
3. Compatibility issue, HDMI AOC is active optical HDMI Cable, there is have chipset inside, how to guarantee HDMI AOC success , the key point to make sure the TV (Display side) and DVD ( Source side ) EDID reading successful, then your TV will be start. So, on marketing, poor quality HDMI AOC is bad on compatibility, only works with small brands of HDMI Device, so before you start to use the HDMI AOC, please test compatibility is very important.
4. Final one is the cable do not work at any HDMI device, but cable do not broken, this situation mostly is VCSEL died, if this failed, need manufacturer to test in room, following 2 pictures show you the died VCSEL. HDMI have total 4 lanes, but from this pictures, you only see 3 lights, which means there is one lane VCSEL failed.
A lot of factory to pursue low cost on the marketing to changed inside VCSEL, use low quality VCSEL, die rate raising, and life shorten, all these are high risk defective on the marketing.
